I trained at the University of Edinburgh Medical School and have worked in diverse areas of Scotland and London before joining the practice. I enjoy dealing with problems from all medical specialties and have special interests in diabetes, child health and joint injections. My hobbies include hillwalking, chess and badminton. I am also the lead GP trainer for the practice, an elected representative for Kent Local Medical Committee and the Chair of the Southeast Thames Faculty of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Dr Kapil Mahna

I qualified in 2001, finishing my medical education in Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, both abroad and in the UK, since then. I have been a General Practitioner since 2011 and have worked in practices in Lewisham and Bexley before joining the practice in October 2014. My areas of special interest include mental health, respiratory medicine, IT and medical education. I am also the Dartford Gravesham and Swanley lead for Mental Health.
Dr Tim Atack

I joined Redwood Practice in December 2015 and am originally from the Bexley area. I have previously worked in Guildford and my special interests include Medicine of the Elderly, psychiatry and medical education. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, photography and playing the guitar.
Dr Sarah Thurgood

I joined the Redwood Practice for 12 months from August 2016 as a GP ST3 and qualified with MBBS from University of London (GKT) with an intercalated BSc in psychology.
Following my 12 month placement I joined the practice on a permanent basis.
I am originally from the local area and have done training at Darent Valley Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. My special interests include palliative care and medical education.
In my spare time I enjoy sailing, literature and cooking, especially baking.
Dr Sarah McMorran

I qualified in 2003 from the University of Aberdeen. I have since worked in London and diverse areas of Scotland where I completed my General Practice training in 2008 in Perth.
I have been a General Practitioner in the Scottish Borders since 2008 before joining the Redwood Practice in November 2017.
My special interests include Child Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Diabetes care.
In my spare time I enjoy swimming, golf and playing the piano
Dr Ratna Kothari

I joined Redwood Practice as a Salaried GP on the 2nd February 2022.
I completed my medical degree in 2011 from the University of Leicester. I subsequently completed further training in Leicester and in the Medway towns, and I have been working as a fully-fledged GP in Dartford since 2016.
I enjoy the diversity that General Practice affords, and my special interests include dermatology and ENT.
In my spare time I enjoy playing the piano and the ukulele as well as embroidery and crochet.
Our practice is far more than just doctors and receptionists - we are a large team working together for our patients.
Practice Manager - Mrs Christine Bright
The role of the practice manager is to co-ordinate and organise the practice to best effect. She will help you with any administrative problems and will be pleased to receive any suggestions you may have about improving the services available.
The receptionist's job is to help you arrange consultations, home visits as necessary and answer telephone queries about the practice. Our receptionists cannot give medical advice.
They type letters of referral to hospitals and help with the administration of the practice.
They provide nursing care and advice to the housebound and those recently discharged from hospital. Telephone 0300 1234 449.
They visit all families of children under five. They may also provide support and advice to all age groups, particularly at times of physical or emotional stress.
To help our patients with their emotional problems, we have a team of skilled and sympathetic counsellors. If you would like to see a counsellor, make an appointment with your doctor.

Maria Watkins is our Healthcare Assistant. She has special interests and additional training in wound care and infection control.
Mrs Nicola Field RGN
Nurse Nicola Field has special interests including diabetes, chronic disease management and cardiovascular disease
Our nurses are available directly by appointment - 01322 223600. They also perform cervical smears and carry out health checks, immunisations, smoking cessation and can advise on many problems.
